Divine Redeemer's "Kid's for a Cure" Relay for Life Team
Relay for Life is a 24 hour event at the Ford City Athletic Field every June. This event, held globally, helps promote cancer awareness and to raise money for the fight against cancer. All money raised goes to the American Cancer Society.
“Kids for a Cure”, our school’s Relay for Life team, continues this tradition as one of our school’s service projects. For 2009, we received the Bronze Team award for collecting over $2,500. We would like to thank everyone who donated to this cause and all who walked during the event.
In November, DRS students collected $397.00 in dimes in one week. Kindergarten collected the most money and was rewarded with an ice cream party.
During Lent, from Wednesday, February 17 to Easter Break, we will have our annual relay collection. Every class will have a collection container and totals will be announced on Fridays. Each student in the class that collects the most money will earn a chance to throw a pie at the principal during a special assembly.
We will have a penny war in May. More information will be coming home closer to the start time.

Whole School - ongoing Freerice.com - donating 10 grains of rice for each correct answer.
Haiti Aid Rocks - Benefit concert for the earthquake victims. DRS is working with local talent and the Armstrong Chapter of the Red Cross to provide a night of entertainment and fundraising. Lenape Golf Course donated the use of the facility and all local bands and musicians donated their time. Friday, Feb. 5 from 6 - 12 PM. Buy Tickets in advance or at the door $10/person
Students will decorate with posters of Haiti and facts about its culture. The DRS Band will kick off the night with an original song for Haiti.
